Who
450 architects was established in 1995 by Richard Lee Parker, AIA, and David Bushnell, AIA, former classmates at Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning. Richard and David came together with a common vision that architecture is an art that can be formed as well as give form to who we are and how we feel, both in the present and for generations to come.
The studio exemplifies a dedication to the client and close attention to detail, is committed to green building principles, and embraces a spirit of advocacy and activism. We work together in a collaborative environment and our practice celebrates the creativity of everyone involved. That says a lot about who we are: democratic, empathetic, collaborative, and focused on a result in which everyone can take ownership and pride.

Our award-winning studio provides comprehensive architectural design and construction administration services for public and private clients throughout California. We emphasize environmentally sustainable building practices and cost-effective solutions. We have a keen eye for refined modern details. And we completely understand the building process because we’re builders too.
Green building is an integral part of our philosophy, and 450 architects is known for leadership in solar and sustainable building consulting. For each project, we research what products and technologies are currently available, to what benefit, and at what cost. Our staff includes experienced LEED Accredited Professionals and PassivHaus Consultants.
Where
Clementina Street is at the heart of San Francisco’s SoMa district, just a few blocks south of Market Street, the city’s main transportation artery and commercial hub. Our design studio resides among SoMa’s warehouses and industrial buildings, sharing the neighborhood with a number of small manufacturers, fabricators, and artisans who contribute to SoMa’s diverse vitality and provide great opportunity for creative collaboration.
